So it is time to move the Gasser out of the garage and into it’s summer storage spot and move the dragster into the garage to start preparing for this summer’s racing season.

I have one last project that I wanted to complete and that was getting the new radiator bolted into the vehicle.

I figured the best spot to store the body panels was on the vehicle so that is what we will do.

Currently the body is just sitting on the frame so I wanted to put a couple of bolts through the body and into the chassis to keep it in place while hauling it in the trailer

DSC_7616So this is as far as we got this winter. We had a number of distractions but I think we got a lot done. It has been sitting for 6 years with no progress at all

DSC_7617Two dedicated Car Nuts showed up for today impromptu Car Nuts meeting. They are inserting the body bolts for the rear of the car here.

DSC_7619The core support has been bolted to the frame and now the fender brackets need to go on. Core support and fender brackets have been powder coated the same color and the dragster chassis

DSC_7620The left fender going on. Man that hood scoop sure looks high, hope it fits.

DSC_7621Right fender going on, for not having seen the vehicle come apart we seem to be finding all the right pieces.

DSC_7622This corner is the only body damage to the vehicle and getting the filler panel to fit was a little challenging. It had to be removed several times for clearance cutting to take place around the new radiator.

DSC_7623The grill goes on, additional clearancing was needed to the center support as there is now an electric fan motor sticking out in front of the radiator

DSC_7624It is in!

The hood has been set in place, we could not bolt the hinges up as they need a special shoulder bolt which I do not have. They have been ordered from Chev’s of the 40’s

The stance is just about right, I think the front needs to come up just a bit. I will have a front and rear bumper. The gaps were very nice and we did not really work at it too hard.

DSC_7636A Chevelle upper radiator hose cut down is almost perfect.

Spike Products http://www.spikeradiators.com/ did a very nice job of producing a custom radiator to fit inside the original core support and fabricating a fan shroud for the radiator.

The last project of the year for the gasser will be to drop the transmission off at Dishon Transmission Service  https://www.facebook.com/DishonTransmissionService  to be rebuilt, a reverse valve body installed along with a transmission brake. This will happen when the dragster block is dropped off to be built into an new engine for the dragster
