Went for a drive tonight and discovered I have no turn signals front or back. The indicators in the speedometer also do not work for the turn signals but do work for the Emergency flashers

Emergency flashers work with or without head lights or marker lights on or without any lights on.

Brake lights work with or without the headlights or markers or without any lights on

I’m thinking, in this case, it is not a ground problem

I’m thinking the first thing to check is the fuse and the second thing is to check the flasher unit. I believe the flasher unit for the turn signals is plugged into the fuse block.

Members on the JeepForum provided me with the location of both the fuse and the flasher unit which made this repair easy

I was provided the locations.  Flasher unit is the circular unit on the top and in the center.  Fuse is the blue 15 amp fuse and is labeled as is the flasher unit.

I checked both sides of the fuse with a test light and found it to be good

DTurn_Signals_SC_0190Removed the fuse, and it looked good, and the contacts were clean, so I reinstalled it.

Turn_Signals_DSC_0196Pulled the flasher unit, nothing to check on it

Went to my handy dandy home auto electric supply and found I had a 552 two contact flasher unit

Turn_Signals_DSC_0200Does not look the same, but you have to stand on your head to see it so I will use it.

Turn_Signals_DSC_0204The turn signal indicator on the speedometer now works again!

Turn_Signals_DSC_0194And the turn signals on the outside of the Jeep work again. The hardest part of the job was focusing with bifocal glasses. The whole job including taking the pictures lasted 10 minutes. I believe the shortest repair job I have done on the Jeep.
