Project for Week 2008 11 01

This weekend’s project:  Remove the engine and transmission
I enlisted the efforts of all the members of Rochester Street Rods and Finger Lakes Classic Chevrolet clubs and had great turn out.. We had Len Ball, Jerry Croston, Tom Deyle, Norm Kinney, Ray Schmitt, Vince Falco, Bill Cleary.

All are welcome Saturday mornings 9 to whenever.

This is how the car looked before we started this weekend.

Power steering and master are gone. The plan is to replace it with a manual brake master. I need to do some research on this.

This was the exhaust system I put on at the beginning of the year. It looks nice but does not work well. The pipes are to long and raw gas builds up in them when you decelerate and you get back fires. Time to rethink this (gone).

Lenny became our interior expert and remove the driver’s seat. Hey Lenny are you up for removing the dash next weekend?
Here is Lenny saying, no,no, don’t do that, here let me show you the way.

Well I guess Lenny was right the engine is out, lets all watch the oil and water drain out! Who is the fat guy in the orange shirt anyway? Does he ever do anything or does he just stand around all the time?

PB080021_small   Well look at that that guy in the orange is finally doing something. He forgot to get bolts long enough to bolt the engine to the engine stand so he is cutting threaded rod up to do that. The whole point of this weekend,s project was to remove the engine and bolt it to the stand. I think we should fire this guy!

A good time was had by all. See you next week. I think we will be removing the gas tank, positioning the fuel cell and battery box in the trunk..
I think I need to hire a maid to clean up after us, well I guess I have to do it this time.

The transmission will be sent out to have a transmission brake installed, a new front seal as the old one was leaking and a general look over. It already has a shift kit installed which work just fine. Shifts were right a 5,500 RPM.
