1970 SS El Camino – 454 Engine Installation

	Well the engine is finally moving from it’s temporary home to it’s intended location.
	Turbo 400 transmission to be bolted up the the engine. Transmission has been rebuild.
	Once again many good friends to help out. No, you do not have to raise your hand to ask “why”. The answer is “Because”.
	This hole is soon to be filled with a BIG BLOCK!!!!!
	Same old story, insert tab A into slot B.
	Almost there.
	What do you mean it does not fit!?!?  Well it doesn’t. Look close and you will see that the oil pan is resting on the cross member and the engine perch bolt holes and the engine mount holes do not line up. What could be wrong? Stay tuned for the answer. Some people say there is a difference between the engine perch for BB and SB cars??
	Put away again until I figure out what the problem is. Any ideas? No far looking ahead.
	Answer, The wrong oil pan is on the engine. Any one need an extended sump oil pan? It does not fit Chevelles or El Caminos.
	This is the pan that was on the engine. Now I am kind of glad it did not fit. This looks like it might have leaked (this is the way it was on the engine).

	I’m being very careful that this gasket goes not get squeezed out like the last one. I hate oil leaks.
	Well I resisted the first time around, but could not this time. The engine has been painted using base coat / clear coat. I had to paint the new oil pan and when I held it up to the engine the engine did not look so good (the oil pan is on the engine to keep the over spray out of the engine
	Had to paint the transmission, of course.
	Had to see what it looked like. Cool!
	Engine, Young son, and the best thing that ever happened to me in my life. She makes it all possible, my wife. Say hi when you see her.
	It fits. I have to do everything on this car at lest twice.
	Lets all cheer.
	Lets bolt something easy on. I know the water pump. It is already painted and ready to go.What do you mean it does not fit. This is not April fools.
	Let me in there. You got to be kidding me. It does not fit. It is hitting the timing chain cover.
	You push on that side and I will push on this side. No it still does not fit. !@#$#@!*&!
