I am putting two weeks of updates together here.   Last week and this week.
Installed the new water pump.  In the process, I cleaned, ran a die through the threads and painted the bolts.  I painted the water pump the same color as the exhaust manifold.

DSC_0003_small1   After Powder Coating the panel that covers the transmission with the new NIC powder that I think is a nice mathc to the color of the Jeep, we installed it and the shifter boots and the shifter knobs.

Pulled the old spark plugs, number one was nice and clean and the rest were all carbon fouled.  Put some new plug wires on.  I will play with them a little to make them fit better (shorten them up).  Removed the MSD stickers from the coil clamp and coil.

DSC_0003_small   We spent a little more time in the shop today.  Cleaned up and powder coated the Power Steering brackets and the throttle cable linkage brackets.  Painted up the bolts and mounted the pump and throttle cable linkage onto the Jeep.

Started on the Weber Carburetor install.  The adapter plates did not match up.  Took the time to grind them so that they did.  I am currently letting the locktite set up on the carburetor studs.  I did clean up the excess locktite on the adapter plate.

The surfaces that meet each other between the firewall and the right front fender were rusted.  So…. I took a wire brush to the surfaces and cleaned them up.  Although this paint was supposed to be a color match to the paint code, it is not a good match.  You would think that it would be as this is under the hood and out of the sun.  I also prepared the firewall the “Heater Blower Motor upgrade” by enlarging the blower motor hole to 3 1/2 inches.  Got my wife involved to find the center of the hole.
