Made the pilgrimage to Indiana again, and will be returning again next week.

We still have problems with the remote oil filter lines. The Mickey Thomson adapter supplied by Jack Gifford has an interference problem with an embossment on the block. I brought the block back with me and will be looking at this later today

Chassis is coming along. The back half is fully welded up; the new required “horizontal” tubes in front of the axle are welded in.  The first hoop for the roll cage has been bent and placed. It is laid way back as the body work will follow its line. Seat back has also been bent and placed.

P3230013_smallWe set the placement of the steering gear box. Note the ends of the tubes were fish mouthed, filled with pieces of metal and welded up.
Gas pedal, Brake pedal, chute release, shifter, and future fuel shut off were also located. The plan is to get them tacked and have me back to check the plaement before welding

As Roo Man’s car is now out in California (left there after Bakersfield) and Chris Buck’s car has been completed and delivered, this project is the only major project in the shop and should start to make great leaps. Rolling chassis should be completed mid May.

A lot needs to happen to make that come true.

Roo Man took me over to John Force’s shop and walked me around in the “shop”.   What a place.  I had no idea how large an operation it is.  You name it, he has it.  The shop, if you can call it that, is in the MotorSports Metroplex several miles from Roo Man’s shop.  In the same Metroplex, also know as Nitro Alley, are DSR, Impact Racing , Vance & Hines Motorsports, Morgan Lucas Racing, Kenny Bernstein Racing, Pedregon Racing, and Don Prudhomme Snake Racing.  Sorry, no pictures were allowed.  Next week, I think I will swing by and take some pictures of the outsides of these places.
