Powder Coat Equipment Rebuild

See our move to Macedon and the Barn Rebuild to get the back story on why the Powder Coat Oven, Dust Collection Booth and all the Duct Work is rebuilt.

First I had to design the area and all the ductwork from the booth to the dust collector.  Next, the build and all the tweaks to make the design a reality.  And of course, once ready, some piece of the puzzle must break!

In this enthralling video, I show the installation of the dust collection system in the shop and the assembly of duct work.

In this video, we install an old work electrical box, some single pole switches to control the lights, and the powder coat controller.

Unique to this install is I use stranded wire rather than solid core wire for the wiring.

I want to hang from the ceiling an object to be coated. It needs to swivel to gain access from all sides and angles.

I work on friend’s vehicles and get requests for such things as intake manifolds. A stock intake can weigh 85 pounds.

This video shows building the hook to carry that. I was unable to find a suitable hook so my son and I put our heads together and, after several versions, he came up with this idea.

This video details the build of my new Powder Coat, Dust Collection Booth.

I used to have a whole room set up for this and in the new shop have gone to a cabinet to save space.

We install double walls, build a hanging swivel hook, install and wire switches to turn lights and the Powder Coat Controller on.

At the end we quickly sand blast a piece, power coat it, and cure it. It all works!

I had to make some repairs to my Powder Coat oven and thought it would be an interesting video?!?
